Listen to GB7YD on iPhone

Post by 2W0PWR on Fri Feb 12, 2010 6:05 am

I have been reading the thread over at the South Yorkshire Repeater Group about the D-Star repeater not being on the iPhone via uStreams App so I thought I'd send uStream a request :-)

Approved

Hi

I downloaded the uStream App the other day on my iPhone in hope to watch the uStream video from GB7YD D-Star. This stream is currently not added on the iPhone although it was viewable in the older version...

Please Please Please can this stream be added, it falls into the categories bellow and as this is a Licensed Amateur Feed we are not allowed to talk about Politics, Religion nor are we allowed to swear.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello,

Only streams approved for the iphone can be watched through the app. We are
working hard to meet all of Apple's requirements, and provide users the best
experience we can.

We are periodically reviewing and approving channels for the app. We are
looking for family-friendly channels. The characteristics of an approved
channel include but are not limited to:

not broadcasting nudity of any kind
not broadcasting vulgar content
not broadcasting content that you do not own the copyright to
not broadcasting any illegal activities
following Ustream's Terms of Service
following Apple's iPhone Terms and Conditions
having a show logo
having at least 1 recorded video

If you feel that your stream belongs on the iphone, please email
iphone@ustream.tv with your username, a link to your stream, and a description
of your average broadcast. If you meet all of the requirements, we will get you
approved right away.

Best,

Ustream Support

Hi there.

Your instructions don’t work.

Searching for GB7YD yields no results.

Are you using version 1.6 of the player? The reviews seem to indicate a retrograde step after 1.5.

Neil.

Hi, looks like I have an older version so I have tried to upgrade to latest. It’s telling me that I need tp plug my iPhone into the pc to upgrade it. Will do this later today and let you know results.

Can’t see why it won’t find our stream. Both old and new versions should be connecting to the same ustream feed.

Neil, my version is 1.1 so I have removed it and installed the latest version. You are right. No results listed.

I’m talking with ustream now to get it included in the search.

Looks like we are stuck on this one until the YD cam gets more busy. The latest Ustream Viewer app for the iphone only lists your stream on the list if you have quite a number of viewers on all at once.

Still looking into ways to deliver it to an iphone. Maybe as a quicktime stream.

Anyone any other suggestions?

Now call me daft but…..

if everyone who is interested in having this rank on ustream (so that it can be viewed on iphone) why not all (on computers) open four tabs with the cam in?
Pretty soon the numbers will rack up and we should be showing in the ustream listing? 2E0BLF informs me we need about 40+ viewers to rank…as I say daft..but it may just work
